Hello all. I am a returning PCA member who made the mistake of parting with my 34k 1984 Targa only to realize 6 years later that I needed to get back into a Porsche 911. I starting looking and actually purchased ( or began to ) a 2003 996 Turbo. Extremely clean , very low mile example. After a couple days of sleepless nights, I realized that the 996, while gorgeous, was not the classic Porsche I really desired. I truly missed the raw character of the 84 Targa and the driving experience it delivered. I gracefully exited the 03 Turbo discussion and was able to find an 85 Coupe. Same India Red but this car is fitted with Cashmere beige interior and an unusual dark brown dah and upper vinyl components. Its different and works well in the car. The car is 100 percent original paint, which is cool but means that I need to live with some imperfections, etc. It shows extremely well regardless and is simply stunning. Mechanically, it is outstanding. Even the 915 is a delight (relatively) to drive. I sourced a set of beautiful 16 inch Fuchs to replace the 17 inch Braids, which are really cool wheels and look outstanding, but are simply not factory stock. I’m a nut for that.
I look forward to meeting other PCA members and Porsche nuts when the opportunities arise. I tend to not have much spare time during summer months, but normally fall and spring are great times to enjoy these cars and their owners. As we move past Covid, I am sure those chances will increase. Until then, stay safe.
