I grew up in the 80’s enchanted by the 930 TURBO in black and the 944 in red. I attended several Porsches in the Park events, saying, “someday”. Since I was teenager, I could afford only the models. After landing my first job I immediately bought a Mazada RX7, as it was the closest I could get to a 944. I lost that car to the junkyard. Decades went by before I was financial free to splurge on a car. I started shopping and passed by a local used car lot and OMG – there it was a RED 944! It had gold BBS rims! I brought a mechanic friend to check it out and test drive it. I took it around a tight right turn in downtown Westbrook and spun it out, facing the police department! HAD TO BUY IT! In ’22, ’23 and ’24, I drove it, broke it, repaired it, stored it, broke it again, repaired it, drove it, stored it. In 2024, I joined DERPCA, got to be friends with 944 owner, James Newton, who refrred me to 924S owner, Tony Comeau (PHD in 944). Tony examined my 944, listed 7 repair jobs it needed and offered to show me how to do it all. We made a plan to repair it and the he said, “watch all the videos for all these repairs, buy a fire extinguisher, stop driving the car”. In 2025, we changed out brakes, shocks, struts, motor mounts, aos o-rings, coolant hoses, sensors, injector caps. After all those repairs, Tony declared the car ready for AUTOCROSS! We went in July 2025 and had an absolute blast. I love driving my 944.
