Hill, Joe Thrift, Sally Sprafka

convened 7:00 p.m.

added note that the rescheduling of the Mid-Coast Ramble is to coincide
with Foreign Car Day at Owl's Head on October 13.
Membership:
No new information since August
Old Business: The
Minutes from the August meeting were approved as distributed, with the
added note that the rescheduling of the Mid-Coast Ramble is to coincide
with Foreign Car Day at Owl's Head on October 13.
Upcoming events:
German Restaurant Tour: October 6.
Steve Atwell has agreed to be the contact person. To be held at the Old
Munich Cafe and Biergarten in Topsham. Don will do a flier for this and
other October events (see below). Fair amount of discussion about how to
get the flier out to members. Glenn agreed to move the date of the next
newsletter up so the flier can be included as a "post this on your fridge"
insert. See
Events and newsletter for further information
Midcoast
Ramble: Has been rescheduled for
October 13.
October
26: Charity Run/ Make-A-Wish Foundation, hosted by
North Country Region.
October 27: Oxford Plains is
available for autocross. Conflicts with NHIS event that several members
will attend. Sally Sprafka will help with timing and scoring at Oxford.
Don will contact Don Michaud (who helped out last year) to see if he is
available.
Past Events:
Jeff's Barbeque - - Excellent turnout. Some great cars. Some new people
we had not met before. The event broke even. Next time one of us needs
to remember to take Ketchup for the burgers and hot dogs. Follow-up:
Nice little article in the newsletter about this event. Especially like
the brief discussion of the salad face-off.
Web Page review: Linc
was not in attendance. Nothing new on the web page.
Newsletter update: See
above regarding moving date of next newsletter up and including flier for
October events.
Communications from
National: Regarding Zone 1 rep - - Henry Hoeh is filling out
the last year of Pete Tremper's term. There will be an election this
fall. The Board agreed we have been less than satisfied with the manner
in which Henry has handled the situation with Up'NMaine. Prior to the
election we will have a chance for input regarding the choice of a new
Zone 1 rep. There was a Volunteer questionnaire to be completed by any
candidate for national office. There was also a gracious letter from
Ellen Beck thanking us for supporting her nomination as Enthusiast of the
Year.
Other: The DER
Board has been disappointed in the lack of recognition we have received
from North Country Region for our contribution to the October charity
event to be held again this year on October 26. We sought recognition in
publicity for the event, and would have liked to share in the charitable
contribution, to enable us to contribute to Maine's Make A Wish
Foundation. At the last NCR track event at NHIS, Gerry Austin discussed
the outcome of a meeting with Don and Ned Vadakin. The conclusion is that
DER members are seen as participants in the event, just like anyone else.
And all contributions will go to the branch of Make A Wish to whom NCR
contributes (presumably the New Hampshire chapter).
Next Meeting:
Tuesday, December 10, 7:00 p.m. at Otis Atwell
& Timberlake, 980 Forrest Ave
(enter through the rear). Major
agenda items will be 2003 officers, and next year's banquet.
Adjourned at 8:45
p.m.
Sally Sprafka
