Show 'N Shine: Brief
discussion of publicity. Plan to display DERPCA banner at site. Planning
for event is going well. Still need a flier, windshield placards,
ballots, radios. Several jobs still available for volunteers. Volunteers
should arrive by 8:30. Morong will bring some new cars to display.
Newsletter update: The
Omaticks have resigned as editors. Glenn has what Terri had assembled for
the summer newsletter. Joe may write an article about the ice cream run.
Joe attended the Zone 1 48 hours at Watkins Glen and could write an
article about that.
Tour to the Balsams:
At this point there are 11
cars and 22 people registered for the event. Glad to see quite a few new
people, and some from the more northern reaches of the region. It appears
that the post card reminder was successful. We should continue that when
possible.
Zone 1 Concours and Rally:
Rod Carr has agreed to be the registrar
for the event. There will be a meeting of the planners next week to get
caught up on planning progress. Gerry Giordano has been approached to be
site coordinator for the concours.
Possible events: Social meeting at a
restaurant, perhaps in conjunction with a BOD meeting. Glenn agreed to
follow up with planning. Gerry will look again at the possible Bar Harbor
tour. It would be good to do something in the northern part of the state
that would include dinner and an overnight. There is a good German
restaurant in Topsham that we have been to before. Steve will check on
possible dates for a group in the fall.
Oxford Plains autocross: In the past
our participation has been dominantly organization and staffing
(registration, timing and scoring) rather than as entrants. The event was
canceled at the last minute last year. We will probably not participate
this year. A member of the BOD will notify a Cumberland Motor Club
representative of our decision.
Finances: Our bank account is quite
healthy.
Next Meeting:
August 17th, 2004 at 7:00 at Steve Atwell's office (Otis & Atwell on
Gannett Drive, S. Portland).
