Meeting Minutes
Present:
Linc Avery, Glenn Hill, Rod Carr, Steve Atwell, Sally Sprafka, Joe Thrift
Meeting
convened 7:00 p.m.
Minutes
approved: Approval
of minutes from September.
New Event:
Corey Jacques, owner of Sports Car Workshop on Route 1 in Arundel, would
like to host a tech session at his place of business. Glenn will e-mail
Corey to find out his website address, date, time and other details for
the planned event. He will also get directions to Corey's shop. Glenn
will send out a notice of the event, or include it in the next
Porscheforme newsletter.
Zone 1 TechTactics:
will be held Saturday and Sunday, March 4 and 5 in
Springfield, Mass. In the interest of increased attendance, a Presidents'
meeting has been scheduled for March 3 (Friday).
DERPCA Annual
Banquet: The date is March 19. The banquet will be held at
the Marriott at Sable Oaks as in the past two years. There was some
discussion of changing the location, since we have been there twice
before. However in light of the fact that the Zone 1 Concours and Rally
headquarters will be at that hotel, it was thought best to have the
banquet there one more year, and perhaps try a new venue next year. Glenn
will contact the Marriott banquet person regarding setting up the banquet.
Zone 1 Rally and concours:
No new developments. Sally hopes to have a rally route finished by
January 1. She will contact Bob Michaelson to work out details. There
was further discussion of the desire to go back to a simpler event than
those in the last two or three years. There have been several offers of
help and support, including from North Country Region, and CVA. There was
also discussion of possible support from the dealership, and availability
of funds from PCNA. Steve Atwell agreed to contact Bill Sowles at the
dealership to discuss some possible funding/support options.
Newsletter: Some
advertisers are in arrears in paying for their ads. Glenn will contact
those who are behind, to update their accounts. Corey Jacques of Sports
Car Workshop would like a full page ad in the newsletter. Glenn has a fee
schedule and will review it with Corey.
Zone 1 Presidents' meeting:
Glenn reported that one of the most interesting presentations was by Jack
Baer, who serves as a liaison between factory, clubs and dealers, to
maintain and improve communication. The presentation offered valuable
information for clubs in relating with and creating a win-win situation
between themselves (the club or region) and their local dealership.
Mackworth Island Show N
Shine: There is a need for one of us to meet with
representatives of the Baxter School to begin planning next year's event.
Gerry Giordano has contacted the Rotary Club. What appeared earlier to be
a potential conflict between our event, and one planned by the British Car
Club has been resolved.
Other business:
From the Presidents' Meeting, they want to do a new national event.
Tentative title is PCA Escapes. It would emphasize social activities. It
would be opposite the Parade geographically and in time. Simple.
Relaxed. Discussion of this reminded us that indoor karting events are
becoming more popular as winter activities. Ours is not the only region
doing this. There is a reminder from National that indoor karting events
cannot be club sponsored. They cannot be covered by PCA insurance. The
way our indoor karting series was handled was in compliance, in that each
member was required to pay individually, and have their own license.
There was no implication that DERPCA was sponsoring the event(s).
