I just moved from Vermont to Maine and I'm looking for a shop in the Portland area to service my 1995 968.  The car is a dedicated PCA Club Racing vehicle (F Stock) and so I'm hoping to find a shop that's into racing.  Any help is appreciated.  www.zipshift.com  TKS> JM

I need to replace the windshield on my 1997 993 C2.  Can anyone recommend (hopefully from personal experience) a quality shop for this replacement?  Thanks in advance.

I would like to post kudos to one of our advertisers. I just drove my car to Laredo TX from Bangor. Before leaving I went to William Briggs in Lincolnville. He is superb and I would advise anyone in central or northern Maine who needs Porsche maintenance to consider him. William is extremely knowledgeable, a true gentleman and teacher, and encourages working with him to learn as he works on your car. He is a also PCA instructor and had 4 Porsches at his wonderful shop when I was there. If you don't wish to stay there is a winery down the road and ferries to the islands in Lincolnville. Without a doubt this was the finest service I have had on my car and, again, I would encourage anyone to call if they need Porsche help. He is the best!!

I have heard that someone in Belfast is a wizard at tuning Porsches, but I have lost his phone number. I have a 1961 Super 90 356 B that needs valves (probably), carbs (maybe) and timing done by someone good.

what's the difference between (951 105 905 10) and (928 105 905 09). can (951 105 905 10) be installed and work well in my 85 late 944. i heard that they can and can't.

price check:

(951 105 905 10) for GP run $17.00 $24.00 per inner/outer.

(928 105 905 09) For GP run $ 42.00 to $75.00 per inner/outer.

Why the huge price difference when both are Genuine Porsche valve spring sets.

I have a 1988 911 Carrera and wanted to know if the I can retrofit a steering wheel from a 1985 911 carrera targa. I noticed that the is a 1 inch spacer on the wheel. Can this be removed so that the wheel is in the stock position as my 88 wheel?

I am thinking of purchasing an older (1969) 911T with a salvage title. Car was side-swiped, New door and fenders. No damage to the frame, all has been repaired. Has anyone had any experience with insurance, registration, or re-sale with a salvaged 911. Any suggestions? Thanks,

Joe

Seeking winter storage for my 1969 911 E Targa. I'm hoping that somebody out there may recommend a place in the Greater Portland area to temporarily store the car. Do any PCAer's out there have a lonley car that would like company for the winter? Thank you!

I have a problem with a 1971 911t. The engine works great but the clutch does not seem to engage. The clutch pedal feels as if it is under the same amount of pressure as when the car worked but when trying to select reverse gear the car balks and it sounds as if the gears are grinding. The last time I drove it was 3 months ago and it worked perfectly. It has been in neutral in the garage since then and I'm confused as to why it no longer works. Looking for recommendations on what to do or who to talk to.

I'm interested in having a PPI done for a car that is in southern Maine between Portsmouth NH and Portland ME. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good Porsche service shop in that area?

Also, does anyone have any recommendations for a good car body shop in that area?

Does anyone know of a child seat that can fit into the back seat of my 1994 911? I am trying to find a way to let my 16 month old daughter enjoy the car with me, but I am concerned about her normal car seat not fitting properly, or causing damage to the seats.

Thanks for your help.

I am looking for a good mechanic for my 1979 911 SC, preferably in the Bangor area, but will travel if necessary. In addition to a mechanic, I also wonder if anyone can recommend an upholsterer for the car seats.

I am about to purchase a 1985.5 944, and I am wondering if any of you have had experience with them (i.e. major repairs that are common to that year model, or average common repair costs). I am aware that maintenance will be considerable more than a domestic vehicle, however I am just looking for some rough numbers. Please email soon, as I will be making a purchase in the next few days.

Last week I bought my first Porsche. It's a '94 911, midnight blue, with excellent paint. Can anyone give me suggestions on what I should buy for a car cover. I have been looking on-line and there are hundreds. My car will always be stored inside. I want to do whatever I can to keep the paint looking as good as it does now.

My father and I are trying to restore a ‘73 911t. The car has been off the road for almost 18 years. The flexible fuel lines are no longer useful and we need to replace them. I was wondering if anyone knew what the metal fixtures that connect the flexible fuel lines to the metal fuel lines are and where I can find them? Can you use the same one again or do you need to buy a new fixture? I really appreciate the help.

I'm from Cumberland county and I'm looking at a 914. Can anyone tell me more about these cars--performance, weak spots, particular issues to watch for, etc.? This would be my first Porsche (and, coincidentally, is quite inexpensive as it's not currently running). Are the 914's easy to work on (doing the work myself) and relatively straightforward? I have been a Saab guy for a while now and there is an enormous online Saab community that is very active--is there anything like that for Porsches (i.e. a big bulletin board service with many knowledgeable people who are willing to help those of us unenlightened souls)?

Thanks for your help and input!

As a point of interest, an author by the name of Brian Long has been publishing several Porsche history/reference books. The books are in great detail, and are written model specific. The pages are high gloss and usually full color. The newest book (Porsche 944) was just released. I am very pleased with this book, and it is certainly the best book in my library.
