DER
Balsams Lunch Tour
August 8th,2004
|
 |
A spectacular
drive topped off with a
gourmet meal!
Photos & story of
last year's tour
|
Meeting on the causeway in Naples, Maine,
we took scenic routes to Dixville Notch to enjoy lunch at The Balsams, one of
New England's remaining grand hotels. Lunch at the hotel was gourmet
fare and dress was "nice casual" for
lunch. A separate parking lot was provided for DER members. |

From
Dutch Dresser, our tour guide - the pre-tour plan:
 |
"We'll be taking 113 from the Fryeburg side; it is a beautiful
road. We'll also be taking the North Road, if about a hundred yards of
well-established dirt road is OK (must be a feud between villages over
whose road ends where). The North Road is a gorgeous little back country
road that parallels route 2 going from Gilead (113/2) north toward
Gorham. The trip north from Berlin is also scenic, curvy, and sparsely
populated." |
