Who, Me?

Yes, I saw it coming…like a freight train in the night.  I knew the sale of Getch’s 911T and his subsequent fascination with muddy cars would soon occupy too much of his time for him to continue with PORSCHEFORME editing.  So, would I be interested in editing the DER Newsletter?  Uhhhh….sure!  Why not?  Besides, I hadn’t done anything particularly self-abusive in over a week! 

Honestly, this is just a thrill.  I’m sure there will be bumps in the road, but I can’t imagine a better diversion for a Porsche-fan who really needs a creative outlet.  I thought of volunteering for this several years ago, but Karen and I had just joined the club.  Meekly, I just kept quiet and was very happy when Getch stepped up to the plate. 

Well, now the job is mine, but this newsletter very much belongs to YOU.  PFME is YOUR forum for news, ideas, and information.  What that means is if you have something to add, then let’s hear about it.  If you want to try your hand at writing an article or story, give me a shout!  Dave Getchell moved our newsletter from the back of the pack in Region One to sixth place!  He certainly deserves plenty of credit for that, but my goal is to see us take top honors, and to do that we’ll need help from you. 

I discovered early on that being in the PCA was the second best part of Porsche ownership…next to the car of course.  I realized that without the support and camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts, owning the car could be almost anti-climactic.  PFME’s role is to coordinate this mutual support.  Recently there has been a Harley commercial on TV that shows grandpa telling the youngsters that he always wanted to get a Hog, but spent the money on aluminum siding instead.  Don’t you end up with similar regrets.  Hook up with some PCA friends and enjoy every mile of Porsche ownership. So let’s make this a banner year for the Down East Region.  Get that P-car fired up and out on the road for a drive, to a car show, or on an ice cream run.   If you want a REAL Porsche experience then get involved in PCA Driver Education like so many of your fellow DER members!  No boredom there, guaranteed!  There’s plenty to do, and plenty of fun to be had, so grab those keys and hit the streets!  Time’s-a-wasting!
