Wanted…YOUR
point of view!
By Glenn Hill
PORSCHEFORME Editor
Another Maine summer has
moved into the history books, but our Down East Region fun isn’t over yet!
We’ve still got some great activities planned, like the Midcoast Mountain Ramble
on the very same day as the Owl’s Head Foreign Car Festival! Now that’s a REAL
two-for-one special! Remember, you’ll be dreaming about events like this when
your Porsche is door-handle-deep in snow, so take advantage of the fun while you
can!
You know, being part of the PCA and DER really is a unique
opportunity, and one of the best things about it is being able to meet some
people with AMAZING knowledge and experience! It’s also interesting to talk to
folks who are learning new things, trying something different, or just enjoying
the heck out of their P-car. This is what makes being in a car club fun; you
benefit from someone else’s experience, and vice-versa! Well, this philosophy
needs to be reflected right here in the pages of PORSCHEFORME! Also, in many
ways, this newsletter is the object by which other regions judge our club, and
I’m sure we all want other PCA members to take a look at PFME and say, “Wow,
those Mainers run a pretty good club up there!”
See, I’m looking for some folks who want to put something down on
paper. Maybe you want to do a one-time article about something you did with
your car, or perhaps you think doing a regular article would be fun. I’ve had a
ball doing 356-World for a couple of years now. When I was younger, I used to
imagine writing for a big car magazine someday. I bet some of you did too. Now
you can act on that dream right here with PFME. Sure, no fame, no pay, but fun
by the truckload! Plus, it just feels good seeing YOUR article in the final
copy when it arrives in your mailbox. New to the club? Who cares! Only been
to one event so far? Big deal! Sometimes, it’s the new broom that sweeps the
cleanest! Frankly, this newsletter is going to get a little stale with only a
few people providing the input. We mail out almost 200 copies of PFME, and I
have trouble believing that only four-or-five of those people are interested in
sharing their knowledge and experience. Indeed, we’re already starting to hear
new voices! Russ Radcliffe isn’t exactly new to the club or PFME, but he’s got
the low-down on Driver-Ed safety in this issue.
So please, let me hear from you. Don’t be shy or stubborn. It’s
NOT a lot of work. Remember, Porsches are fun, and talking about them is fun
too. Who wants to write a regular 911 column? How about something for the
water-pumpers out there? Don’t know what to do, but think you’re interested?
Give me a call or drop me a line. That’s the first step! Remember, it’s just
the beginning that’s hard, anything after that is a piece of cake! (Unlike
restoring a 40-year old Porsche 356, where the REVERSE is true! Trust me, I
know!)
Please, take some time and think about doing some writing for PFME.
Probably the best time to do that would be when you’re cruising in your Porsche
to one of the great events remaining on our calendar!
