Friday, August 1st, the DERPCA's'
"Famous Ice Cream Run"
Our best attended driving event in past years is back. On Friday, August 1st, plan on joining us for a drive to Hodgman's Ice Cream in New Gloucester. We'll be meeting at TD Bank, in the Hannaford's parking lot, in Yarmouth at 6:00 PM, leaving at 6:30 PM sharp. We'll take a leisurely drive, on the beautiful back roads, to New Gloucester and Hodgman's Ice Cream, the quintessential Maine ice cream stop. This is always a fun event and a great way to end the work week.
Driving Tour To "Longfellow's Wayside Inn"
In Sudbury, MA, Saturday, August 16th
Our intrepid social chair, Jerry Giordano, has organized a driving tour to Longfellow's Wayside Inn on Saturday, August 16th. The Inn is the oldest operating Inn in the US. Since 1716 the Inn has offered comfort and hospitality to travelers along the Boston Post Road.
The trip will include several stops to view some important Revolutionary War landmarks in Concord and Lexington. Then followed up with lunch at the Inn. Afterwards, returning as a group or off on your own.
This is where Longfellow wrote "Tales Of A Wayside Inn" ("Listen my children and you shall hear the midnight ride of Paul Revere") The little red schoolhouse nearby where "Mary had a little lamb" was written.
We're venturing a bit further afield for this event, which in itself is very exciting. The historical aspect is very compelling. Lunch at such an historically location makes the trip worthwhile. You really don't want to miss this one.
We need to know if you're interested in being part of this driving tour. Please e-mail Jerry at email@example.com no later than
Owls Head Museum Saturday/Sunday,

The Owls Head Museum has selected Porsche to be the featured marque at the Foreign Car Show the weekend of September 13 & 14 2014. This is a big honor for the Down East Region.
For the past 2 years, the Down East Region has been well represented at this event with 34 Porsches present on the first day of the 2-day event. Since Porsche is the featued marque, we will need to be there both Saturday and Sunday. As in the past, we will be caravanning from Yarmouth to the Museum on Saturday morning. You can either meet us along the way or meet the group at the Museum. Admission is free for your Porsche, driver and passenger.
Some of us will be staying over Saturday night. We are in the process of putting together an agenda for those who wish to spend the night in the area. Depending on how many of us will be staying, we will see if we can get reduced room rates. We'll also plan a dinner for Saturday evening and a driving tour of the area after the show closes on Saturday.
We will be inviting other Zone 1 Regions and want to make sure the Down East Region is well represented. Let's show the Owls Head Museum that Porsche is well represented in Maine and deserves the recognition as the featured marque.
